Ive never experienced this before, but its rained approx 8 days out of the past 2 weeks and its left ALOT of water my soil and back yard is so wet the patch has had puddles in spots, the plants growth has slowed down due to this and some of the leafs have started to go pale, also today i noticed alot of 1- 2" long roots coming out of the soil all around the plant is this all due to waterloged soil? the next few days are looking good nice sun with NO RAIN so hopefully its able to dry up some, These roots will they go back down? Frustrating but burying exposed roots can cause even more damage. My neighbor is using hay but the weeds might become an issue.

once the soil drys out a bit i would take soil from spots away from the plant and cover exposed roots lightly.

its normal for the leafs to get a bit pale when you have an extended period of clody /rainy weather. plants should green up again once the sun comes out.

Dave,
For lack of a better plan, last season I had the same thing, I took the opportunity to broadcast mycorrhiza on the exposed roots, then tossed loose soil and worm castings (anything I could get my hands on) on the roots to ccover them the best I could.

Roots need oxygen and your roots are simply "coming up for air". You'll see 'em disappear after things dry out a bit.
