I'll second the too much rain. It has rained for nearly three days straight here in Denver. We are supposed to be back into the 90s by Wednesday however.

We have gotten way too many rains in the past week. Nothing excessive like last year, but it is hard to do anything in the patch. And the plants aren't growing very well without the sun. I feel bad for southern Iowa, they have really been drenched.

Ditto Stan. I had a diatribe written in response but lost it. Here is the short version. Ground totally saturated down 18 inches to two feet. 24 of 28 starts rotted out. Being in cloche doesn't help with that amount of water. Unable to get tractor in field to till this year. Made notill option easy. Backup plants under grow lights for six weeks; tried planting them. All holes immediately filled with water. My patch is about six feet above a drainage ditch level. It's just that wet. Water flowing through ditch like winter flood season. Average May temp was about 50 degrees. And then to top it off the rain of the past week. 2 inches in 24 hours. There is a silver lining. 3300 gallons of water barrels filled and overflowed. (from only 25% of roof area)In less than one day. The real downside is some really nice seeds that were trashed. Start early prep for 2011. Not the year for a PB. Kiss a thousand good bye. Temp has not reached 75 degrees in Seattle area this year ; setting a new record.

Ground totally saturated here. Wrong kind of weather for silt loam. Should of invested in sand instead of drip tape.

If you want to get something in the ground spray it on while it's raining. I wanted to drench some RootShield in because of this "lovely" weather & I just sprayed it on the leaves & let the rain finish it out.
