I was doing some searching on here and other then the Diagram and people talking about making an "S" curve, I also found someone mentioned a "C" curve.
Is this the type of curve Don Young has in his Diary?
Obviuosly with the "C" curve, the main vine will come back and stay in line with the Main before the fruit...as the "S" curve in the Diagram the vine makes (2) 90 degree turns and ends of moving over a few feet.
I may be looking too much into this, but this will be first year trying "curves" and just want everyones opinion on which is better?

A C Curve would not give you the slack you need in the vine. The S allows slack :)

shannon' right its a s curve thats best if i can describe this better i bend vine first opposite way pumpkin is on then toward pumpkin then away meaning lets say plant points south and pumpkin shows up on west side- a few feet before pumpkin il slide whole plant to east. then make a curve then slide whole palnt to west. then make the actual curve at stem of fruit. then curve vine away from pumpkin then once its 6 feet out and clear of fruits eventual area il curve it back normal i do it all in one shot 4 minutes or so per plant i like vine to be 8-10 feet longer than area to be bent myself hard to put in words

Alot of the big named growers over the years has changed the way they set their pumpkin, they have done away with the S or C curves all together.
They terminate the main at the pumpkin, so no need for messing with the vines and chancing on breaking them, and also no pulling up a rooted main to set their pumpkin.

Is that what is called a pitchfork pattern? I have see where they terminate the main vine at the pumpkin and curve the nearest 2nd vines around the pumpkin and let them grow out like 2 new main vines. I was thinking of doing that this year, takes the stress off.
