Ok the leaves on this plant are getting in the way of the next set and so on as the vine is streching out, can there be too many secondaries coming off the main? Right now they are about six inches apart on the main and the leaves are about twenty inches across.

some growers will eliminate an occasional secondary vine if to many are produced. at times this also will cause even larger leafs to grow so theres not a whole lot to be gained sometimes.

Thanks pap, it,s been humid here and I started thinking that if they crowd up too much I might be fighting powdery mildew all season.

How about leaves that just grow over the top of other leaves, should you remove a leaf or two and not the whole vine?

We try not to remove any vines, we do remove leaves on the vines as needed to control over crowding and increase air flow. By not removing any vines (and burying them) we increase our root mass.

yes taking an occasional leaf out here and there is also a good idea. we take several out around the base of all plants so that sunlite and air flow are not restricted in this very important area of the plant.
