Why does it seem every year each of my plants has 1 or 2 secondary vines that seem stunted and arent growing much, if at all?
They have great growing secondary vines behind and in front of them.....any ideas?

good question Jeremy, happens with me every year also.
I did find out a few years back though, that the half of the plant that faces the most sunlight(east) during the day does definitely grow alot faster then the other side that faces the(west) evening sun , but why some secondaries just dont want to grow at all is a mystery to me also, maybe the secondary of that particular part of the plant isn't getting the nitrogen it needs like the rest of the plant is?,,not sure.

Same here Jeremy, I never have a perfect looking plant. If a secondary is slow enough, I usually terminate it early, and let a more aggressive one fill in it's place.

Thanks Brooks.
So andy, if the stunted vine is only about 2' long, would you terminate it at 2' or just remove it at the main and train a better one into its place?

Has happened to me before two seasons in a row seems like they do not correct themselves. It always happens in cool weather.

Thanks all, I snipped the ends of the 2' vines today and burried them.

Good question Jeremy, I just cut one today that was in my way and way to short compared to others. Thanks for asking.
