Super wicked storms blew through our neck of the woods sat night and a rogue tree limb toppled my middle hoop flattening my leaf stalks. Anyones thoughts on whether she'll pull through would be greatly accepted. The main is good just broke 6 leaf stalks.

Don't know if my blackberry put the link up to the pic so I may have to do it on my home puter this mornin. The limb only got my middle hoop with the 1054 van hook. My other two hoops and plants were ok though! Thanks again!!

If only 1 leaf stalk is broken you'll be OK. Is the main vine alright?

Bandit, I feel for ya..but I am told these plants are pretty resilant. I recovered from a hail storm back in May with ping pong ball sized hail. As long a the main is ok, but if not you can always train a secondary..Good Luck.

i put a transplant in my patch last week that had broken leaf stalks. I used bambo stakes to keep them in a natural position. they are still growing and I'm actaully thinking of making a splint if they keep growing.

Bandit you will be surprised at how fast these plants recover. Check out my diary from 09. My plants were totally laid to waste by hail at the end of June, I was able to still grow some respectable fruit.

same boat here bandit. by the time the plant is completely filled out, you will have plenty of leaves. many of the surrounding leaves near these gaps will get bigger with the extra space from snapped off leaves. if just folded over, i would prop them up. those with splits i would leaves on to help the plant recover with energy still and keep an eye on the bases of the stalks so rot or pooling water inside a split leaf stalk doesn't affect a vine with rot. they plants are amazing recoverers. i got whacked twice this weekend and lost 6 leaves on one main and 6 secondary leaves on one plant and 3 main vine leaves and 4 seconday leaves on another plant, and 2 main vine leaves and 2 secondary leaves on my third plant. i feel for you but take it in stride. it is all part of the battle. mother nature messing with your plants and your head. take out your frustrations in even more diligent patch work. do not a set back let you slack and give up. do the opposite and come back fighting. this is how i deal with the all the curve balls this hobby throws at you. i have heard seaweed sprayed after damage helps the recovery process too. best of luck. by the way gene mcmullens patch got leveled by a wind storm last year and he grew 1544 and 3 or 4 more over 1000. it ain't but a thing.
