I see a 1385 was cloned and people are growing clones off it. I was thinking (yes, I'm bored)would it be a good idea to some how make plans on trying to clone off the next world champion pumpkin? did anyone try and clone off the 1725Harp? if the grower would let us, he or she could set a few vines, leafs (whatever is best for cloning) aside for them to be clone. I think it would be a great idea.

Anything that does good here this year I am going to propagate for the next season, be it melon, mater, 'kin, or squash. :)

One thing I was wondering -- with so many people growing the 1385 clone will the naming convention be adjusted to specify it was a 1385 clone used vs. the original 1385 ? (I can see it getting confusing later at auctions with so many 1385 genetics seeds and progeny coming up for sale)

it is still the 1385 not a clone, but a cutting..we use terms that we make up in pumpkin crowing..Like a stump :)

Maybe because there are so many out there, say: 2005 Rebel 10, (1385c Jutras x 1658 Young) and that'd designate it came from the one clone crop. ?
