A picture speaks a thousand words in the ability to grow 1600 lb. pumpkins. The secret is in meticulous care of the plants, such as keeping the plants unblemished from disease, insects and free of weeds. Hard work and persistent care of the plants no doubt is the major factor in growing a monster. Thanks for the incentive Don.

It also appears that Don has the luxury of natural windbreaks.

his non-compacting soil with only a couple walking boards is what impresses me the most.

I would like to know how he gets that vine to bend that much at the pumpkin ! That is the ideal vine position everyone should strive for. Don, feel free to e mail me on how to do that, LOL !!

Don has an advantage that most of us don't have. He lives in the state capital, which is full of politicians. With all of that hot air and BS flowing in that town, his plants get off to a quick start in the spring with plenty of fertilizer to keep them growing until October.
