Forget main is 4 ft, back is 2ft. I know this is going to set me back a few days . I think the vine can make it up. The main is slow.

What's it on? I had one last year that I was setting with genetics, and the back main set up blossom first and took, I fought with the main two more weeks to get a set, and stopped there, and the back main just outdid the other one, I had never had over 40" cc on day 10 before, etc. 1041 McKie x 961 Urena was the cross on (783 Huff) Neither would have won a weighoff though.

Go with the main vine if possible, we have set punkins on a back main before, but found the main vine punkin was allways alot bigger.

If you're convinced that your back secondary vine is the one to go with, give it a try and do a little creative vine trimming to make that fruit the plant sink. Dr. Bob grew his 1375.5 in the same condtions I believe. Maybe he will have a few suggestions.

I'd say give your main a little time to see what it does. Because of hail damage I had to terminate my main and create a new one two years ago. The first two secondaries took off when I did that and were very beefy vines until they were terminated. The new main was slow for a couple of weeks because of it and didn't really get going fully until those first two side vines were terminated and the new main became the sink again.

It is a 1333 Young, I am going to wait a couple more days. Dr. Bob or anybody let me know the best way to trim the main so will it sink correctly.
