Your plant has outgrown your hoop structure..... as you can't possibly get another day out of it ..... you take it off and it blows 30 knots..... grrrrr. LOL

Usually steady 40 with variable direction gusts to 60, and within 48 hours a hailstorm boils up out of nowhere to boot! And if you DID nail everything down for the prevaling wind, the storm that blows up out of nowhere has to zip through while you're not home at crosswind direction....

My thoughts,,,,, This is what I think,,,,, Okey a hoop Is for pertection,, When your plant is falling over,,, And the cold,,,,(this time of the year cold is'nt that bad,,,(not for me) so right when my plants fall over I like to get the hoops off right away,,, Because the plant it self is still young and I like to toughen them up,, so to speak,, It has happend to me before,(the topic you're speaking of)wind pertection is what you need,,, however from past experience,, I now take the pertection away sooner,,,
But it is funny,, it does always seem to be windy the day the hoops come off,,lol

How could anyone but Steve list his patch wind speed in nautical terms rather than terrestrial? Regardless; I feel your pain & sympathize.

why don't ya say it is blowing real hard!!More than the plant can stand...lol The wind is realy beginning to tick me off here. the only way to ensure the wind don't blow is to build a huge green house and keep it in it. just my experiance.

30 knots is 34.5 mph (I am rounding a tad, okay?) 34.5 mph is 55.5 kph 40 mph is 64.4 kph 60 mph is 96.4 kph
Now then, let us just say, it's fast enough to whip the crudola out of your nice plant!
