My 1725 stem split and its vine is flat now. Have any of you guys ever had this problem? and will it grow alright?

It might be helpful to post a picture of the situation. When I think "stem split" - I think of something on a pumpkin, but it seems pretty early to be fighting something like that. Regardless, pictures would probably help the folks on Big Pumpkins better diagnose your plant's problem and offer some advice.

May not be too early for Alabama ... seems we have to start early to beat the heat!

I have that happen to a LOT of plants every year, melons, squash, pumpkins, etc. I don't know what causes it (wish I knew) but I don't recall ever losing a plant. In fact, my first AG to produce a female flower this year started out just like your picture. It now has 4 females on it and the stem has healed without any attention. I've always suspected wind stressing the stems and causing the split but I've never really been sure what causes it.
