I have a lot of ants popping up everywhere in my patch. Do ants pose a threat? Should I try to get rid of them?

Get rid of them, ants harvest aphids for their nectar, they will trasport aphids from plant to plant setting up little colonies.

I've already seen the little buggers walking on my plants and elsewhere. They're really small and came out of no where. Any suggestions on what to use to get ready of them?

Sorry for posting this here, just noticed the "new growers" section which would have been more aproprate. I find searching for information very tough here :( I have some Bayer Complete that I use for my other gardens that should work out ok.

I think it's good to ask questions as you think of them. Even if it's already been discussed, those of us who are relatively new around here can learn as well. :)

Sevin should kill them all, dont over do it and burn the plants. Get them now before the aphids take over.

When I first started using BP site search (last yr) I was a lil confused by it too. When you do a search, scroll down past all the diary entrys and you should see message board threads on the topic you searched. Hang in there you'll get it :) Tammy

I hope bayer complete does the trick because that's what I already have. I just noticed a bunch of the tiny ants up in the fold of one of the leaves. I'm going to spray tonight when it cools down a bit.

One of my young plants is being invaded by a colony, incidentally. Don't know whether or not they do damage themselves, but I'll watch it for a bit.
