It is illegal to dump left over fishing worms in some states. They are considered an invasive species. Earthworms have destroyed some native forests.

My neighbor's Silver Maples drop tons of drupes (seeds, helicopters, noses, whatever) all over. Worms gather them causing me fits where they germinate enmasse.

Night crawlers sre not native to North America.

Minnesota calls them "HARMFUL EXOTIC SPECIES" and forbids their release by law.
