My plant has 3 main leaves and is already growing flowers. Is that typical? Should I prune them off and free up more energy for the plant to grow? I'm a noob, can't you tell?

This is not typical.

Yea, I would prune the flowers off.

After you prune the flowers off and let the main grow out a little if there are a bunch of leafs stacked together then you prob. have a double vine.

Good luck.

Could be related to stress. Are the plants under ideal conditions?

They started making flowers while still in the pot, before I put them outside. I've pruned them all off, we'll see what happens. The conditions are pretty good

If they were that advanced in the pot, that may be a cause of stress in and of itself. Most people suggest transplanting outside as soon as the first leaf is growing.

My flowering starts, not in the pot...but after I put em in the ground!!! High phos levels, I think is my key!!! I have males every where, and on a (approx. 7'long main vine, w/ several 1' or more secondaries) plant, already culled (pinched off) about a half dozen females!!! Will continue to dilligently cull females (pea size) until 6/1...if plant is 10' or more, I will start to pollinate!!!Peace, Wayne
PS...this plant was started early, in a hoop house w/heat for a mid August weighoff!!!

SM, did your soil test show high phos levels? Peace, Wayne

"High Phos" indeed that was a soil issue for me last year. Went through lots during the off season to correct. So far my efforts are paying off! Plants are staying the "veg" course and looking great!

SM, curious as to how you corrected high Phos levels? Peace, Wayne
