I only have two plants in my patch , and one of them is deformed. Would it be allright to use pollen from this plant, or am I asking for problems down the road with the offspring from this mating having the same problem.

not knowing what kind of deformaty your talking about? i think your asking for future problems to use pollen from a deformed plant.
id get pollen from another grower close by or failing that? id just do a self pollination.

a deformed plant like a double vine?

both my 882 seeds came up with double leafs/double vines....pap, do you think this may have been caused by what i pollinated it with last year?

The plant in question is a 1309 Hebb, I was going to cross it with a 972 Bhaskaran. The problem I see so far is the secondaries that are just forming are branching from one into two ,almost like a fork . Each fork has its own set of leaves and flowers.Plant also refuses to lay down, I think I will let it grow, if worse comes to worse I will do a self pollination of the 972 which looks great with a 4 ft main. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks Pap and Jeremy.

Yep sounds like a flat vine in the making, pap is right on self pollinate or "borrow" pollin from a neighbour.

If all you want to do is grow a big one and PROMISE not to keep/sell/give away/donate the seeds, then the pollen would be ok just to get the 972 pollinated. However, you must destroy all the seeds.

An other alternative would be to grow another vine, even at this date, just for the pollen.
