Sorry, I have lots of questions. I'm getting ready to plant soon and I'm wondering if anyone has any advice for wind protection. There is ocasionaly heavy wind and I'm not sure if anyone has a good idea for damage prevention.

The perfect solution to wind protection is go to the home depot and get some conservation fence. Its cheap about 24 dollars for about 100 feet to include the wooden stakes that are attached. All you gotta do is nail them in they'll give you adaquate protection and will help ease some of the stress involved with growing..lol. Also do you have some hoophouses made already for your transplants? And Rich questions are what the boards are for plenty of great people here who wanna see you do good. Good luck tot you and If you need any tips you can e-mail me and I'll give you my cell number and you can ask me, If I don't know the particular answer I'll find out that way I'll learn. good luck bud.

What's a hoop house? Uh oh.... Don't know what that is so I guess no.
I'll grab some of that fence from home depot. I kinda wanna block the whole plot off with fence to keep my crazy jack russell from reeking havoc.

A hoop house is a type of cold frame growers use to protect plants during the early time that they get put into their patch. Look at the diaries for examples of the types different people use. Some are as simple as pvc pipe anchored into rebar and covered in plastic, others are wood structures with a door that opens over the top. Just remember, they provide warmth to be held in at night, but they also hold in the heat during the sunny part of the day, so the best ones to use are those which can be opened up during the day and closed at night.
