I don't heat mine. I think it creates stress when the hoop is removed and then the plant has to be in the 50s or 60s at night. IMHO

Eric We have a heated green house and we keep it heated to 50 degrees at night. Plants seem to love it. In our hoops we close them at night and use 2 100 watt light bulbs to provide heat if it is going to get to cold. We also throw old sleeping bags over the hoops to help retain heat if needed. I think the biggest thing is to keep the frost off the plants.

50-85 during day, low 50's at night or whatever I can manage above freezing if the cold is snapping and the wind is not with me (even with windbreak). As for heat or not, when I start the transition to living with the great outdoors, it's leaving hoop unheated then leaving it open for all but the worst nights...
If there is a chance of it hitting freezing or wind chill on prevaling windside or both, make sure the plant doesn't touch the hoop or greenhouse plastic--IT WILL FREEZE. I toasted most of a vine in 2008 that way, plastic cover drooped and touched and froze all but 4' of the main.

Mine is also set to stay just above 50 degrees no matter what the outside temps are.

Eric, I do the exact same thing to a ''t'' as Pumpkin head does, works great.
I turn my lights off in the morning though, and the wife will open the hoops later that morning unless I know its going to be a cloudy day I just leave the lights on. But if you want some extra heat leave the lights on during a cold sunny day and open your hoops up a smidge so you dont cook your seedlings.
