Does anyone know of a system or product that can tie a weather monitoring station to software that can trigger irrigation valves? I have a full time job distant from my pumpkin patch, so I'd like to automate irrigation this year, and I'm willing to purchase a commercial system if I have to. I just don't know where to source the equipment.
I've looking into a weather monitor like the Davis Advantage Pro 2, but I'm not sure it can tie back into software I'd need to control irrigation.
I'd like to have an overhead mister going this year, but only want it triggered when the UV index is high enough and it's not windy. This requires two sensors, software, and then the ability to control the correct electric valve to actuate those misters.
I'd also like to have several soil moisture probes tied into the software so I'm not over-watering.
Does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, web sites or info that could help?

Dusty, talk to Bart Toftness, I know he can do some pretty interesting stuff from his computer to his patch, something hes been doing for years, maybe he can give you a few easy ideas on this, Im sure if he can do this, he can put you in the right direction on something to help you out with water timers

if your fortunate to have an old fart like me around 24-7 then you already have an automated system. i can appreciate what the working man (or woman ) has to put up with when no ones at home for hrs at a time. an automated misting system can be a lifesaver for these growers.
