It appears that Western New York growers are going to find out how sturdy their hoop houses are this weekend. The weather predicton is for 60+ mph winds, thunderstorms..and dare I type it ...snow!! Late Friday night and Saturday should be "interesting".

Good luck to all of those in the path of this storm!

Had 70mph gusts on Tuesday and this morning had some snow on the ground here in Denver. Plants are still alive but even with rocks around the hoop house to anchor it down they still managed to move 12 inches in the heavy wind. Make sure you batten down the hatches tight.

Been really windy here all day, sometimes gusting to 40 mph or so. Supposed to get worse in the next couple of hours.

Wind ripped a hole in the side of my sons squash hut, destroying his 848 McKenize. Very big hit for him. I am starting a new one right now, should have enough time to get it going again. Mother nature is reeking havoc on the area with amazingly high winds. I actually stapled the blankets to the posts of the huts.
