I save my grass clipping every year all summer long and pile them out back until fall, then spread them out to decompose.I have never sprayed weed killer products on my lawn.

This year, I have more weeds then ever and am thinking of spraying my lawn with weed-b-gone.....if i spray and pile the clippings in the back as usual....would they be ok to spread out by the fall....or will it hurt my patch for next year?

Confront was the herbicide that killed all those tomatoes in California. Dow then voluntarily pulled residential uses of clopyralid off the label unless the clippings are composted at least one year. Weed-B-Gone is too cheat to contain good stuff like clopyralid.

That said; the new LOCKUP Brand has a 6-8 week soil residue so care must still be exhibited with all acquired clippings.

Alright then Steve, I'm still not right on this...if I compost for a year mixed in with my browns and ge good black dirt..then my six t eight weeks soil residue is still there?....Maybe that's why I never get over 700 lbs...LOL

If you have concerns throw a handful of radish seeds in a cup of your compost...if they die then it is not good.

Jeremy, Tremor knows his stuff regarding poisons, and Shannon has been farming enough to add good info also,, But be careful of well intentioned growers who give advice without facts, but rather based on their own opinion without stating it as such,, My uncle composts his grass that has been treated with weed b gone and weed and feed and uses it on his garden without problems,,
