So, I had my 1505 Holland just breaking the surface of the soil in it's pot (which was in the oven with the light on to provide a bit more heat), when my gf decided to bake a cake. I pulled the pot out when the oven had reached 200F (1 minute). What are the odds it'll survive?

The heating cycle is reasonably fast and if you had gotten it out fast, I wouldn't rule it out yet. You'll know in the next 24 to 48 hours how it is or isn't... if it was just breaking soil you will probably get a plant.

Always, always, always put a BIG sign on the oven announcing that a seed or plant is in there. Tape over the controls wouldn't hurt either.

The odds of the pumpkin surviving are inversely proportional to the chance of breaking up with your girlfriend!

On the bright side, you have a girlfriend and she bakes unsolicited cake :) Eh maybe she can stick around for awhile.

Any damage being done would have been to anything above the surface of the soil. The soil would have worked as a insulator as far as damaging any of the roots. One min. wouldnt have been even close to enough time to bake anything belowe the soil level.

We use the oven method alot... Always take Moma out for a whatever she wants dinner during the 3-days I tie up her oven. Never had a mishap. Your seedling is dust if 200 degrees.

I think it would fry a seedling at 200 degrees. that would be something if it lasted.

The seedling is fine. Looks really good and is growing 1+ inches/day. Cake was good too
