Can anyone tell me if myco is compatible with miracle grow potting soil,(feeds for 3 months)not organic. I'm using hoffmans organic potting mix with some soil-lite mixed in and it's turning solid, not allowing seed to break through the surface. Very frustrating. Thanks for input. Jeff B.

myco works with the roots , doesnt really matter about the soil as long as the roots actually make contact with the myco. There are some issues concerning certain fungicides and the like. I believe Tom at extreme pumpkin store has that data on his website about what you can and cant use in conjunction with myco. hope this helps ya.

If that miracle-gro putting soil has high P levels from chemical ferts it could effect myco collinization in a negative way.

Don't use miracle grow mix. Or jiffypeat. Some seed and nursery companies will not guarantee anything will sprout and will not honor their return/replacement if you do.

I get a commercial grower's mix from a nursery, just switched to Metro Mix 300, this is great stuff. One bag goes a long ways if you're just sprouting a few.

Stay away from Miracle Grow soil. Too much Osmocote. Pythium.

Pro-mix is a very good starting medium and it has myco already in it. Good garden centers should have it. I bought mine at the chain store Menards.

Tim, not all Pro-mix has myco in it...the Pro-Mix BX is what you are after, I think?? I use Pro-Mix but cannot get the BX here, so I add my own myco. Works well!!! Peace, Wayne

Miracle Grow also puts out a seed starting medium. I saw it in Lowes. Not sure if it's new or not or how good it is.

I've been using Jiffy organic for the past couple years wiht good results. I've also used Whitney Farms in the past but that may just be a regionally available brand.
