my sprouts are going in the patch later today and i made a list of transplant reminders for myself. feel free to add to the list.

1. make sure to wear a head band to avoid sweat dripping directly on the the sprouts. (i am a fat man who sweats a lot and in the past have dripped sweat directly on the first true leaf. doh!!! i did mist it off with a spray bottle but still did some damage that showed eventually.
2. make a chart of where each sprout goes and look at it again before transplanting.
3. do not forget to add mych fungi to not only the hole you are putting the sprout into, but also incorporate it into the spoils (excavated dirt from hole) that will get put back around the sprouts.
4. make sure hole is deep enough so that when you transplant that the sprout cots are flush to the ground. the sprout will still leg up and get taller a bit over the following weeks and if you have to, you can keep slightly adding more soil up to the cots to help secure them a bit and level off around the plant making a slight gradual crown to the sprouts. you do not want the plant sitting too high when it comes time for the mains to lay down.
5. put them in the right way. first true leaf opposite the direction you want the main vine to go.
6. put them in in a slight tilt in the direction you want the main to go.
7. put label stick in ground immediately after each sprout is done.
8. keep your transplant diagram where each plant went.
9. this year i will water in azos with the first drink the sprouts get. for me that will be in a week or so cuz i watered them yesterday to make it easy to remove my peat pots at transplanting today.
10. take your time and do everything slow. transplant your back up plants first to get your learning curve on track again before the big dogs go in.

lol. i thought about that more than once today. i just got them in and all went well. for those using peat pots, a watering the day before transplant really works nice. the seed starter mix stays together without wanting to crumble away and it is very easy to remove the bottom carefully then place the pot right into the hole and remove the sides of the pot carefully as it sits in the hole.

2 more things i forgot. i like to take a long piece of rebar and rod the dug out hole a bunch of times as deep as possible before i transplant the sprouts into the hole.
and i have a spongy foam swimming pool kick board that makes it easy on the knees for the transplant process.

1. Mix up an extra 5 gallon pail of myco laced properly dampened soil to have handy as you plant in, I swear the patch soil evaporates once I dig the planting hole.
2. Take scissors with that are strong enough to cut the duct tape holding pot together if needed.
3. "Go" before you pick up pot to carry it outside because sure as everything you will URGENTLY need to halfways through the transplanting.
4. Lock the dog in a side room so she can't trip you while lugging or bounce big fat dog paws to 'play' right where her toenails can rip up your plant.
5. Turn off your phone, better, leave it in the house.
6. Take baby pic after you get it planted, WITH the tag that went from pot to next to plant after it's settled in.

Make sure to be patient and don't forget it's a marathon not a sprint!

It's a marathon, not a sprint, that is true, but if you stumble coming out of the blocks, you'll lose the race even so.
