Subject:  cotal leaves drouping

my plants are in the greenhouses. they have been for a week.. now all of a sudden the cotals are drouping but the first true leaf looks fine.. this is happening on two of the four i have in.. i bought heating cables that says there sposed to heat to 74 degrees but my thermometer says the groung is 100 degrees.and thid is in the morning at 6:oo am..should i unplug them? thanks scott

Phil's (Hands On) is just jealous 'cause his are in the ground and we won't EVER see 100 degrees, much less 90 degrees, here.

thanks guys, im going to unplug now!5:30 am..what ticks me is my 1161 rodonis, 985 werner, 1502 wallace and 1199werner are affected by this.. i paid dam near 50 bucks apice for these cables..i know its not the dealers fault.. but i feel like sending them back..if it wernt for bad luck id have no luck at all

if the thermostat of the heating cable is buried much deeper in the soil than the majority of the rest of the cable it will read the colder,deeper soil and the cables will stay on heating the the soil above the thermostat.just 1 possibility at this point unplugging them is the safe bet.

Combination of being inside greenhouse, and hoomis's possible solution, I would suggest?? soil temp meters, sorta cheap...$10 or so...buy another one and put it close to the first!!! If same readings, unplug, and return heating cables, if way different, get refund on 1st thermometer!!! Peace, Wayne
PS...if not way cold at night, I would unplug cables first...and figure out the rest as quickly as I could.
