I am a new grower to giant pumpkins. I am located on the Kansas- Nebraska line. I worked my patch awhile back and add a few spreaders full of manure to it then worked that it. I started my seeds in a green house about two weeks ago and have had them in full sun for about seven days. I transferred them outside to my patch and put them under a tent I made out of three mil plastic. I lift one side of the tent about a foot during the day and set it back down at night. I crawled in under my tent yesterday and found one plant was starting to develop this problem. I was hoping that someone good tell me what it might be, if I need to be concerned with it, or how to fix it. If there is any thing else I have done wrong up to this point please let me know, I am new to all of this.

So I don’t know how to post a picture so you can see my problem. One Leaf has some white scabby looking spots on it and one is starting to turn a little yellow. If you need pictures to see I could e-mail them to you.
Thanks
Blake

Looks like powdery mildew. Find a fungicide for cucurbits and apply it per label directions.

Blake...If you have sick plants now....I'd start a new batch and plant the new ones in the patch. Why struggle from the start...start with healthy plants...July, August and September are hard enough? Mark

Blake, if sunburn is what caused the prblms...then fix what is causing the sunburn. Peace, Wayne PS...small semi-shade structures can be fairly cheap...be inventive...!!!

Might be getting a little to moist at night...If you see water forming on the tent from condensation be sure to open both sides during the day to get a little air flow. also back off the mulch around the plant so the top soil can dry a little during the day. like the surface to be dry and the dirt under that moist...does look like powdery mildew but you should be able to salvage them with a little care. good luck..GrowEmBig! chuck
