We may have lost the longwood weighoff, but it seems there are some of us who will not take this news sitting down. We may move forward with efforts to save our weighoff, or at least form our new growers club.
In order to determine whether there is enough people interested, I need you to email me. Please bear with me as I have absolutely no idea what I am doing... only that some of us are shell shocked to have this weighoff cancelled and are trying to figure out what to do next.
I was growing all on my own for years.. last year I connected with Tim Rosa (Thetman) and we were able to accomplish many things that would have been impossible if left on our own.
Even if you are not interested in having your pumpkins weighed at the scale, you could benifit greatly from the sense of community and exchange of information found thru a growers club.
Please email me at [email protected] with your comments and suggestions. Ground zero for this club would likely be the Lehigh Valley (Allentown/Bethlehem/Easton) area of eastern PA.
Thanks in advance - Jim Gerhardt

The real problem is that we are receiving this information about Longwood just now. If we knew of this problem earlier, a seed auction could have been easily organized. There are not many growers still looking for seeds and certainly not by the time that we could have a BP hosted auction going. I would put every seed I have in my collection on the line to make this happen, but perhaps we are just too late for 2010. I welcome the comments from all clubs and growers, as to what we should focus our attention to. thanks - Jim

Jim, Thanks for spearheading the effort to save the weighoff and/or start a new growers club. Your efforts should not go unnoticed. I am more then happy to lend my support to the cause.

Jim, thanks for the response to my e-mail yesterday. I will absolutely support a club in our area anyway I can, and let's keep in touch regarding the possibilities that I contacted you about. Everything happens for a reason!
