Besides lacewing up global air traffic, will all this new airborne volcanic dust impact the weather in Europe this summer?

Will all the worlds temperatures be down?

Could this be another Krakatoa?

If so, Christy better get ready for a long reign! LOL

This eruption should NOT have that great of a global temperature effect. Volcanoes near the equator are the ones you need to watch for cooling. I heard this from an online blog a meteorologist writes. He said that Krakatoa was right on the equator where the sun is the most direct. But the further you get away from the equator the less the volcano effects global temperatures since it is only blocking out some of the suns rays that are not very direct like the Eyjafjallajokull eruption.

Here is an article about it

http://thehill.com/blogs/e2-wire/677-e2-wire/92765-icelandic-volcano-wont-cool-the-planet-science-group

At the end they turn it into global warming alarmist propaganda though. LOL

The last three time that Eyjafjallajokull(try saying that fast 3 times) erupted, Katla also erupted. If Katla also erupts, things could get very bad.

wow!!! just checked out the local paper online. 10 northern countries in europe have stopped air traffic and 10 others partially stopped due to ash. must be huge.

We left there on Thursday. Our flight left about 9.45 a.m., an hour later then it was suppose to. They closed all the airports at 11:00 a.m. So we made it out just in time. We got lucky on that one, an hour later and we would have been stuck....Close call.... :)

Damn plate tectonics !.....why can't the continental and oceanic plates just stop moving for a while ?.....like, maybe for only 100,000 years. Is that asking too much ?

The Pinatubo eruption gave us a real cool summer the following year in 92: we had a killing frost on June 21. Then we had record floods in 93. The effects of the Iceland volcano could last a long time. My daughter is praying that it quiets down very soon. Her culinary class is scheduled to fly to Italy in mid May.

I understand the last time that big blowhard got his feathers ruffled and woke up Katla, the eruptions went on for two years. I also read last night where there is another volcano blowing off in the Ring of Fire right now. Getting closer to 2012, so we don't have much time left to grow that ol' big'un!

Just woke up and read todays news. This will be interesting now. Activity on Katla has raised and Icelanders believe that it will erupt within week. Ummmm....

I saw a documentary on volcanoes once where the only way to stop it is to throw a virgin into the caldera of the volcano....I think the volcano was the Waponi Woo......
