Any guesses/predictions of who you think is going to grow the biggest AG in 2010? With so many new amazing new seeds from 2009, we are guaranteed a couple 1600+ pounders...Or maybe even some 1700er's. Put the weight of the pumpkin and the growers name. My best guess is 1764 Werner.

Northeast: Probably no WR this year.
Middle: Quinn Werner is overdue a WR. So is Jerry Rose.
Northwest: Jack Lerue is due.

May be off a little but I counted 37 pumpkins over 1500 grown by 23 different people over the last three years. My guess is one of those.

i love this question every couple weeks when it comes up here
for what its worth. i dont have a clue who will be the 2010 world champion pumpkin grower. would not even guess. who would have predicted christys new world record last year? did anyone ? predictions are like (yep you know what i mean ) everyone has one -lol
so many very good growers and new ones are pushing forward as well.look at the new names just here on bp in the last two to three years?
those that stick with it, (and many wont) those that are committed to putting the work and effort in,(and many wont) have as good a shot as any known grower.
everyone has different expectations and goals. mine? sre to grow the best possible seeds. ones that present what i feel is the best opportunity to get me to the next level.
that coupled with the hope for great growing weather and ill take whatever that plant and pumpkin was capable of giving me.
if all goes well i could be in the front row. if nothing goes well? i may not even get in the picture. thats giant pumpkin growing.

I hoping that Matts clone 1385 will give me a new PB (if he cuts me in), but who knows, like PaP says lots of new growers and mountians of hot genetics out there. The grower with the combinations of great genetics, perfect soil, weather, skill and determination has what it takes to get to the top.

This is an interesting question. I believe that A R.I. grower will reach 1700 lbs but then again who knows.....I love the predictions. I think after all the bad weather that we had here in R.I. this year its hard to say then again if we do get better weather then last year we'll have a great season. Hey id there are growers that can grow over 1000 lbs in the crap we got last year then who knows with the knowledge and interesting genetics we have this year.....I believe that a Grower from R.I. Will get a hog into the 1700 but who knows I just have this feeling. Then Again don't count out the grower from Bristol. Scituate and Green R.I. This year proves to be an interesting year to say the least...

I think this could be anyone. But were it's going to happen is were mother nature lays down the best Spring, Summer and early fall weather. We can have the very best soil, the best seeds out there and work our butts off all season to make things happen. But good O' mother nature is the ruler.

Phil Hunt, Don Young, and don't underestimate Dwight Sloan. If any of them top Christy it'll probably be 1770's to 1790's. The Van Hooks are probably going to make it tough to grow in KY.
Europe it's going to be probably hot and heavy between the Patons and Jos Ghaye, and this side should keep an eye on them.
Me... I'm going to defend against all comers and up the bar in orange, green, red, N'long in OK!

If we don't have a another flash flood, I expect something huge from Dave Sunlin. 1200# with over a month to grow when it floated away last year; he could have had the record without so much rain. And I think Carlson & Petersen are due for another scale squisher.

Look out for Ont Growers this year. We haven't had a decent summer in 3 years. If the weather cooperates, look out for some big ones come Oct. Good luck to everyone. I hope you all grow a monster.

LOL Eddy!! Boy, that does sound good though ,, ha! now tell em who you really think will grow it,, Ha!,,,
If I was a betting man, Id go with Dave the Uni brow Stelts , Quinn The Monster Grower Werner or Jerry Nose Rose another continuous monster grower, they all have been so close to world records in the past years and I just think its their time.
2 other growers that have been off the radar for a while that is due is Sherry and Jack LaRue and Joe Pukos for a possible world record. My long shot pick is a guy that has grown alot of huge pumpkins in just his first couple years of growing , that alot of growers dont even know and that is John Hopkins from Wisconsin.
