I've extended my patch considerably and was wondering how much space between plants do you need.

25-30 feet... depends on what size plant you are trying for, 20 ft wide is kind of narrow... If I am growing away from a central point, then 10 ft between the stumps if putting them back to back, 15 is better. I like a 700-800 sq ft plant.

Kenny, if you are planting them back to back you do not need much space, 6 feet is enough. My 1500 and 1428 where less then that.

Dave Stelts is another guy who leaves very litle room when planting back to back.

Now that I think about it, and I dont want to be telling you wrong,, but not 100% positive if it was Dave Stelts who does this back to back growing or not now,,lol,,
Im pretty sure he told me he grows that way (5ft apart), but it was a heavy hitter I do know that, maybe it was Don Young?,, anyway, someone does it alot,,,lol

Sorry again here, should have posted this all together,,, But I have never tried the back to back growing, I am always afraid if one plant catches some type of root disease then the other one thats close behind it has a good chance of it spreading to .
But to be honest, I haven't heard growers talking much about losing two plants that where planted back to back if one of them happend to go down by a root disease, but I have heard of them losing one plant while the other plant that was planted back to back to it did fine with out any problems.

Thanks All, I grew my 679 in a small corner of my parents yard. When the guys at the club came to haul the hog out of the yard they where floored at the size in such a small area. I extended the patch and will get a soil test out soon. Talk about cutting it close...I wanna get a few plants out there and get some good genetics out there to see what happens. This year will prove to be an interesting one at that.

LOL Pap. I was able to extend the patch a whole lot. My Family allowed me to use their space. They saw how happy I was at last years weigh off and want the repeat performance. I'll be planting the 1288 oliver 1375. 1068 Radonis. and the 1502.....I'm so excited and I know I have a whole lotta work ahead of me If I want a better weight. Thanks for the q and A that you sent me. I' already saving my pee. I even have the entire family helping out...lol and Making sure that while germinating the seeds I keep the TV on the right channel...I think the seeds prefer the nature channel. what do you think.... And Lets not forget about the milk. I've been going to Stop and Shop and buying all the milk and stock piling it. As you know you can't have enough milk to feed the plants..lol!!!! I may even try to bury a high tension wire to give the plant some needed electricity to jump start the growing proccess. You can never get enough electro magnetic field energy in the solil. By doing all of this I should have a record breaking season....If You have any more GREAT IDEAS please send them my way.....The pumpkin growing world should be very afraid because records will fall and kennytheheat will be the world record holder....I'm sure it will be worth all the time I spent doing the New found growing practices you sent.....lmao! Hey I may even try germinating my seeds on the TV with the channel set on the adult channels. This should make eventual pollinations easier....lmao! You gotta try everything...Cant hold anything back....lol!!!!
