I posted a similar question on the Seed Starting forum, and got one response(thanks Alex). I'm looking for more input/opinions, so I'm posting it here. I have two 940 Mombert 00 seeds, and am hoping I can get one of them to germinate for this season. Are there any seed starting methods that will help older seeds germinate, such as seed soaking in a special solution, etc.?

Doug, Check out Gibberellic Acid (GA3) in the search box. If you are interested in using it, email me I have some i can get to you.

Doug, I can't tell you what to do for success but through experience I can tell you what not to do. The last couple of years I tried to germ 800 and 833 Mombert and a couple others that escape me. One time I over filed and too much moisture got into the seed and it rotted before it could get started. Another time I didn't help the seed enough. A little root tail started to form but it didn't have enough energy to pop the seed coat. If it were me, I'd try the paper towel method after a light filing. It probably won't rot that way and you can check it from time to time. The GA3 may or may not help, probably won't hurt unless you use too much, good luck.

Chad, I checked out GA3. It looks like it could be promising. Thanks for the offer, if I decide to try it, I'll email you.
Andy, Thanks for your input and advice.
Wiz, Good luck with the 867. I hope it grows you a real orange one.

If it was frozen these past 10 years it'll be fine. If not GA3 with great care.
