We've had great weather here in MN. Any poeple in MN, or similar situations, thinking of start their seeds earlier than planned; due to the warmer than usual spring so far? I'm tempted to start about 5 days earlier. Of course I wouldn't want to risk losing the plants if a cold snap hits.

It's a gamble, either way. If you can protect the plants with a hoop house in case of a cold snap, you can maybe get away with an early start. If you are on a hill, or in town, there is less chance of frost damage. If you are out of town, in a deep valley with poor air circulation like me, you can have cold air settle in and cause a frost where others don't get it. In 1992 I lost tomato and pumpkin plants to frost on June 21, and I am quite a distance south of you. Take you best educated guess and prepare for the worst.

I know of at least four growers in Colorado who have already started seeds. It is a gamble but our weigh-off is September 25th and in order to get em big it takes a little calculated risk.
