I bought a 4 gallon backpack sprayer from Harbor freight for $28 dollars & duct taped the wand to my leafblower. Looks very redneck, but works great.

Im with Huff on this one, and even though I payed alot more for a Echo leaf blower with gravity feed tank, it would have been ALOT cheaper to have bought a leaf blower for about a 100 bucks and then attach a pump sprayer to it.
For less then about 120 bucks(or maybe even cheaper) you can have a really good functional sprayer that works better then my Echo does,, even though it will look a little red neck like Huff said.

We have an echo blower/mister & we love it. A 5 year warranty is nice as well.

Jeremy, you can use duct tape or you can use zip ties. Basically what your doing is laying the wand portion of a backpack sprayer on top of the "shute" of a gas powered leaf blower so the nozzle is about a 1/4" past the end of it. The sprayer shoots the liquid into the air coming out of the leaf blower & it's a mist blower.
And Brooks I bought a new gas powered leaf blower from Home Depot for $68 dollars so I have a total of $96 invested in it.
I'm not knocking the Stihl or echo blowers they are real cool & I would love to have one. This is just a option for folks who don't have that kind of cash.

I totally understand wanting to save money but I have several compression sprayers and not one of them could possibly come close to the volume of mist output from my Stihl 420, no matter how you rig it up to a blower. The Stihl has a 3/8 or 1/2 inch hose feeding from the tank, vs. a pinhole sized nozzle on any compression sprayer. Plus you'd have to stop often and pump real good otherwise your coverage will be all uneven. Like I said I don't mean to knock innovation but there's a reason why the Stihls normally cost $500 or so. If I'm wrong, somebody get a video on You Tube so we can see how good the home made ones work!

That's a easy fix, take the nozzle completely off leaving just the 3/8 hose exposed. Attach a shut off valve to the hose & zip tie that to the end of the blower & you'll get the same output.

And with the shut off valve you can shut the flow off while you pump back up & start again.

Here's where I got the idea a few years back.

Very interesting. I have never seen a gas powered sprayer like the stihl operate in person. Can some one explain the advantages over a ordinary pump sprayer.

Time in field as I understand it...perhaps better coverage...less soil compaction due to walking in and around the plants...perhaps more efficient use of chemicals. I dunno haven't tried it yet but this is what I think would be the advantages.

I just want to follow up on one thing. I'm not knocking anyone who has the mist blowers. I love'em & if I still had the ability I would do a backflip for one. But they are expensive & I'm just trying to help those out who may not have the funds to buy one.
Now if any Stihl or Echo dealers are reading this I would be more than happy to pimp your product for you..LOL

Last season, I made my own mister, back pack sprayer and a hand held blower. I'm not knocking it either, worked good, alot better than just the pump sprayer. I made the investment for this season, monies always an issue, but I couldn't pass up the deal from TurfEagle. I bought my Hudson 2 months ago, it was $40 cheaper then ($259). Compared to my home made one, glad I made the investment. Better coverage, less hassle because it's all contained in one unit. Just my opinion.

Doc's pics were just what I thought of too. I'm sure everyone knows you're not downing the backpack blowers! I just wanted to understand it and I can see now. Hell I'd have made my own too if I wasn't an idiot with machines and stuff.

Best LeafBlower reviews for 2015
Leaf Blower makes the knotty jobs easier. It is made for the over stressed housewives who like their yards clean. Getting a lawn tool such as a leaf blower isn’t just about the cheapness; but it comes down to a speck of machines which is precisely made for your requirements. Worrying customers is worth great to give them some values, who are interested in products which give them a valid worth for their money. Since many users would admit, it reduces the mankind’s effort and heap of physical work. Dust particles, twigs and leaves, just about anything in a pit, leaf blower is mightily convenient in vacuuming yards within a couple of minutes.
