Anyone finding the weather this year un-seasonably cold for April in areas near Sacramento, CA. This is my first grow and I am concerned that I will be putting out the seedling late waiting for warmer weather even though I will start with a plastic hoop house.

That's totally weird cld cause I'm in southern michigan and we've been having outrageously warm weather here (more like the cali weather you should be having!) Hi's in the mid 70's and lows at night in the 60's. I'm still leary about startin extra early though. Hopefully it straightens out for you guys!!!

We're still under the influence of an El Nino. As such, in the northwest we should have a cool spring. I was hoping to start seeds indoors two weeks from today. Likely I still will, but something has got to change, soon, or maybe I'll just wait another week.

It depends on a few things... your climate, when you want to weigh a fruit, and most importantly, how much effort you can make to protect them from cold. You can start at any time, but try to strike a balance on those issues.
My first weighoff is a state fair, usually very late August or early September. We also have a scheduled freeze in early September. So, I start early and try to put a lot of effort into the early season protection.
It goes against intuition, but growers in warmer areas usually start later, I think.
