WOW, Just received this from AB in New Zealand. He weighed in a whopper at the Auckland Easter Show weighing 817.4 KG or 1802 Lbs. It was grown off the 1536.5 van Kooten '08.

I think people would have believed it if you hadn't stated it was growing off a lowly van Kooten seed......sorry Jake....just kidding:-)

just talked to the organisers of the easter show, they re weighed all the pumpkins today because of "discrepencies"
my pumpkin can in at 330 kgs and the winning pumpkin came in at 364 kgs.

not happy about my first weigh in at 380kgs minus the pallet and then getting 330kgs.
but the second weigh in was done without the pallets so the weight was accurate.

so my pumpkin is short by 4kgs of the nz record and the other pumpkin broke the record at 364 kgs.

in the mean time, the winning pumpkin was on tv last night with a weight of 340 odd kgs.
so all in all a frustrating few days.
the easter show organisers werent set up this year for the size of pumpkins, but at least they made amends by doing a fair weigh off the second time round.
so i got second place in nz, and am happy with that.

roll on next season.

As They say the bull s___ stops as soon as the tailgate drops
We had a good weighoff . The growers present had a good time and a good buzz seeing the record broken. It was a pity about the scales but this is a small part of the show and we need to cut our cloth to fit.The weight on the cattle scales was cool and I have seen the calibration cert so alls well.
Due to the publicity the pumpkins generated, We have gained some presence within the Auckland A & P and next year we can build on it, I have had some discussions with the powers that be and its all positive for next year.
