For the second time this month my garden is under 4-6 inches of water (and I have sandy soil). This constant parade of coastal lows has got to stop. I am thinking about ditching pumpkins this year and planting rice. How are some of the New Englanders faring with this latest shot of rain?

Weird weather....right now we are setting a record for warmest ever...back to 1850's something.....last week we had 3 storms that dumped 12" plus each....looks like a tumuluous growing season ahead.....

with all the freaky weather thats been experienced all over the world this past year ya got to wonder what forces may be at work here? think about it for a minute. snow where it never snows, tornadoes on top of tornadoes, flooding thats never been seen in 50 plus years?
as far as ri goes? we are in a mess as most in the new england area are. any ammendments put down last far are already gone. lets just hope and pray the pattern changes and does not carry out to a crappy may and june like we had last year.
ya gotta feel for those that are losing a lot more than a pumpkin patch though. people have lost there homes and furnishing because of this crap.

9.25 inches of rain in Preston and this is in 3 days of straight rain....I can't take soil samples for test and I have ruts throughout the patch since it is on a slight hill...where will my ammendments go? who knows...I will be off to a late start this year and as John says looks like a repeat of last year but conditions seem worse...I may be able to till at end of month April!

We got slammed here with the weather. The house next to me had 5 feet of water in her basement we tried to divert the water but to no avail .I Finally had to get the fire dept over to try and pump the house out they made the decision to cut the power to the house and condem the house till the storm was over. I helped the rest of our neiborhood to brave the flooding. What a tragedy for some. The only good that came from it was you know who you can count on in hard times.
