It seems my idea of aged manure and the Menonite farmer's are two very different things. It was delivered while I was away and I arrived home to find a 10 yard pile that is way too light brown and stinky and lots of straw. Never the less I set about spreading it out since I couldn't exactly tell them to come pick it back up. Should I leave it on top of the soil for the rain to wash out some N? Or till it in?
Should I add some blood meal or other N source to increase early availability? If so, then when?
Thanks -Jim

Just leave it spread out. A good portion of the N (ammonia) portion will volitalize. You will still have lots of extra N but should be ok.

Any kind of fresh manure needs to stay on top to compost for as long as possible.

One year I used cow manure, I seemed to have a lot of white grub worms of some sort. Could they have been from the cow manure, and if so do they feed on pumpkin roots?

Alpaca poo is considered a cold manure. No need to break it down

pap not all menonite churches have the same rules. some don't allow nuthin, some require steel wheels on their tractors (no rubber allowed) and then some scoop your mushroom soil up with a catapiller backhoe lol. aBove all, menonites are business men. jim

poo is stinky!!! i just had 10 yards of cow poo delivered and it was the same way. it looked like it was watered down. i think i'll call them and ask them whats up with it. i've seen dairy poo before and it didn't look like that!!!
