had thier heating cables severed apart by mice or moles? Last fall when I removed my heating cables two out of my five sets were severed. I didn't look at them much last fall. I just picked them and put them away to fix in the spring. I figured that I must have hit them when I was using dowels to train the vines. But when I went to fix them today I noticed that there were chew marks that looked a lot like mice.

Only one I have seen severed was when I found one with the rototiller on an early plant removal and forgot it was there. They do splice back together though.

Mice (field?) will indeed eat copper. I have had cords and phone wire chewed. I don't know why, but think they need the mineral.
