This is from an article on soil care. I thought it's an interesting point.
"It is important for people to prevent and eliminate soil compaction. When soil is compacted, bacteria may produce alcohol, and alcohol can kill roots."

i thought you got alcohol when you compacted grapes. hmmm i'll have to set aside part of my pumpkin patch to compact so i can cut down on my beer bill.

wait a minute if i run over my vines with a tractor that increases growth then the alcohol kills em? hmmmmmm.
