The Michigan Giant Pumpkin Growers will hold their annual Spring Growers Seminar on Saturday, March 27th, 2010, 11am-3pm. The meeting will take place at the UAW Hall at 111 W. Walker Rd. in St. Johns.
Many of Michigan’s top growers will be on hand to participate in panel discussions on such topics as soil-building methods, seed selection, pruning techniques and fertilizing programs. Other extreme gardening topics such as growing of giant watermelons, long gourds, and giant tomatoes will be presented.
Among those top growers in attendance will be current state record holder Don Barron of LaSalle, Michigan. Barron broke the Michigan record with his 1478 lb.
Anyone interested in learning how to grow a giant pumpkin (or any other fruit or vegetable) is welcome. Beginning to advanced growing techniques will be covered. Seeds will be available. Admission is free.
Please feel free to contact me with questions.
