Since I have been growing a long time, Someone recently asked what were some of the benifits of growing.

Heres what I said.

The people I meet and fellow growers

The feeling of satisfaction at the end of the season.

the wow factor.

The fact it gives me somthing to do in the winter to think about.

In stead of hitting the bars i am going to bed early just to get up and spend time in the patch before work.

A place to drink beer out side and not have the cops on me.

So what benifits do u get for growing?

Something fun to carve at the end of the season.

That wow factor on people's faces when they see it is nice too. Every one asking "is it real?".

The beer part, just kidding. It reaffirms my faith watching such an amazing process. Oh and the beer.

Keeps me from chasing woman at bars, my wife says. Fresh air, you can get dirty.

Mud, weeds, communing with nature, legit excuse to play in the sprinklers at 104f, getting off my fat duff and getting my exercise... watching a toddler meet their first big pumpkin-priceless. BucketObragging rights :). The batch of new friends I collected who are like minded-more than priceless. Being able to use the words 'harvest' and 'forklift' in the same sentence. Causing a parade with a trailer and a 'kin-priceless. The awe of watching that golfball turn into a trailer rider. Amen.

why do i grow?
because noting beats the thrill of measurement day. every sunday a.m. in july-august and sept.
because noting beats the sight of a huge young pumpkin or two peaking up over that leaf canopy in late july early august..
because the anticipation of weigh-off day( when you know you have a contender ) is the best feeling in the world.

A good day fishing you might catch a five pound bass, come on there is no comparison.
