If i put up a silt fence this year will it also keep the small creatures out of my patch or is it only good as a wind break?

it is only good for wind protection....i will use it again this year....but swear to myself to remove it by mid july to help prevent disease by increasing air circulation.....i think lack of air flow caused PM for me the last 2 years.

We've buried steel fencing as deep as 12" to keep rabbits out of our patch but they chew through the deer fences at will.

Fox or coyote urine sprinkled around the patch keeps smaller critters like rabbits and groundhogs out. But you have to re-apply after a rain. An electric fence with one wire 4" off the ground an another one about 8" higher and a 3rd wire another 10" higher helps keep small and medium sized critters like raccoons out. You need 5 or 6 hot wires up to 6' high to keep the deer out.
