You can actually get it in just about any grocery store here. I used to just pick one up at the store and break off the cloves and plant them ... to keep bugs away. I personally can't say it did much in the bug department so I don't do it anymore. I know Jung seed has them: http://www.jungseed.com/dc.asp?c1=Garlic&c=164

If you plant the the garlic in the fall, just before frost, it will mature the following spring/summer. It works like tulip or daffodil bulbs. Most suppliers in the US ship seed bulbs from August-October.

But Aaron...everyone who knows anything about garlic knows the elephant garlic found in the grocery stores from China sucks. I'd like to see a post showing alternate sources than the meally bland chinese elephant garlic....perhaps that Ohio Greenhouse guy knows?........

LOL
I quit growing "Elephant Garlic" a couple of years ago, it's just not that good. It's actually not even garlic but rather a form of leek. It does grow Big Giant bulbs though. You can use garlic purchased from the grocery store. If your lucky it may even be from California. If it is, give your local produce manager a pat on the back. One problem with using garlic purchased from a store is some spray their garlic with a chemical which inhibits sprouting, if you happen to buy this it may not grow for you. If your looking to grow garlic for flavor forget the Elephant and contact me in July. If your growing garlic for size contact BlooSqualls garlic farm at http://www.bloosquallsgarlicfarm.com/ Tell him Duane sent you and you what you are using the garlic for. Not promising he'll have any left at this time of year but if he does I'm sure he'll sell it to you. He's grown it for size and may have some very large cloves to share.
