The one thing I have noticed in my 6 years growing is.... luck is a part of growing giant pumpkins..BUT..those who narrow down the variables by good preparation and constant work can increase the chance of succeeding. Even with that said ...Luck is part of our world (weather..disease..genetics).If you analyze why top growers year to year are consistent you will notice they are hard workers prepping their soil and giving there plants the best environment they can. Give yourself the best chances, by controlling what you CAN...but ...some things we cannot control..Best of luck to everyone in 2010! Mark
