is there a difference in the light it lets through? Or is there any other magor difference?

There is no major difference in light, the vapor barrier can't withstand UV rays like greenhouse plastic and may not last as long. I have a small 4 x16 ft hoop house that I got from Lee Valley and after a couple of years the plastic is toast.

A friend of mine patented a UV resistant anti transparent. I never did find him a buyer or market. He has done well with the Olympics though. They insist on graffiti resistant bridges, statues, etc. LOL Spray paint washes off the stuff with high pressure cold water.
