If anyone receives what APPEARS to be an email from me, but uses really broken English for the subject line, I would advise you NOT to open it. Also, my email account is set up so that the sender should show up as my name, not my <[email protected]>.

I received such an email today, apparently from me, to me, which is a pretty neat trick considering the only one here at the time was my dog. As intelligent as he is, he's not that good.

Repercussions from the Google/China thing, or just one more member of society with nothing productive to do? In any case, just wanted to warn you.

I've won it like 50 times now, I just have to send them a few thousand so they can send it to me.

No doubt.

Well, I didn't open it, but I am now wondering if others might and then get ticked off at me for whatever virus or scam that happens to contain. Always something.

oh, yeah! I like the one that starts out something like, "My husband was chopped into small pieces with machete after embezzling money from the government. Please help me get it out of the bank."

You should try being your own ISP, and own a couple of URL's that have email processing. I won't tell you what it's like to have a code attack hammering your firewall AND being virally spoofed as the return on a 16-variant spamout.

If I get something that doesn't appear to be legit, I contact you if I know you, and see if you might have been compromised. The one I'm currently battling hard is an adware loader called adware.vundo that has several malicious variants, and seems to love Yahoo based info services to load through.

Be good, use a good firewall, and a good antispyware program to root out the evil.
