This kinda goes along with a thread I just posted on the seed exchange board , but was wondering do any of you growers have any superstitious things you do before or after you start growing your pumpkins?,,,,, seriously, you can tell us. because if you grow Giant Pumpkins we all know your crazy anyway,,,Lol!
Anyone chant like 10 times ''Big pumpkins no whammys'' 25 times while they plant their seedling in the ground,, then hop on one foot blindfolded back to the house and then to the patch again. ( thats straight up hill and then across a busy country road and across a creek thats like 300 yards away) and if their foot touches the ground before you completed this you know your season is in for a disaster?,,, hahaha! not that I do that or anything,,,lmao!
But whats some of the silly or serious stuff you make sure you do before the season or during that you think gives you good luck even though in reality it probably doesnt have anything to do with how your pumpkins grow,,,,or does it?.LoL!!

i tend to get a bit superstitous when i see a foaming stump, a vine thats dying, spots on my leaves, a split blossom, deep dill rings or a wood chuck running out of the patch. other than that noting bothers me.

Found a couple horseshoes in the garden from previous owners, so I left them there. Never did find the rest of the horse.

Other than bleach water to clean tools after use, no. And the lovely patch shoes I issue to visitors. :)

After setting out hte plants, I sprinkle them with garlic to keep away the pests: cucumber beetles, vampires, werewolves, and other monsters.

I wont have to worry about Quinns secret with my patch being right next to his, I will be able to ''borrow'' most of his growing stuff and Drink most of his beer,,ha!
I can see where that pic would be a problem Don, all them good looking women that would be attracted to your patch, and the work you would get done wouldn't be very productive. You would be better off putting a picture of Eddy up there.

I use the same emory file on my seeds each spring. Never really thought about why I do it. I've never used it for anything else.

Years ago we discovered that I can often dowse. Logic would suggest there are converging lines of dark energy where the 1689 & 1725 grew. Bart sent me some valid evidence of dark energy.
I'm sorry Brooks. Finding dark energy is child's play but the lines cannot move. Tampering with their location is bad mojo and not within the grasp of mortal man. Not even a heap big time wizard can go there.
See the mysterious disappearing lot from our last auction if you don't believe.

I choose to never use either diet pop or light beer cans/bootle as a perspective when taking pics of my kins in fear the pumpkin might go light.
