We've been talking to a few people going on the cruise. Everyone has the same question right now - What excursions are you going on? So I thought I would start a message thread. Jack and I are doing the Antigua Beach Party, St. Lucia -Soufriere Island Delight and the Lively Catarmaran Trip with Lunch on Barbados. All 3 are on Joan's Picks list on ShoreTrips. We may do one of the shore excursions through Princess on St. Thomas - we are leaning towards the St. John tour or Magan's beach but haven't decided. On Tortola we will probably not book an excursion.

I worked for Holland America/Princess as a Tour Director this summer. Just an fyi, many of the shore excursions can be purchased at a lower price from local vendors. For example, river rafting bought through HA was $125 while a local vendor sold the same excursion for $35.

It may not be applicable for the cruise you are taking, but it would only take a few minutes on google to determine if there are better prices to be had.

Good luck!

Carol and I are going on the sail boat and snorkel to Buck Island on St. Thomas. The dolphin swim on Tortola, and the beach party on Antigua. I am just hoping they don't mistake me for a beached whale and push me out to the open ocean!!!

Newman brings up a good point we found on our last cruise you could find cheaper rates after you get off the ship. The trick is the better excursions can get booked up by the ships and you can get X'ed out if you wait till you get off the ship. That is why we booked those 3 and left the rest open so we can free lance the rest.

One note of caution - I have heard stories of people who were left stranded and had to make their own (expensive) way to the next port. Make sure that you have a guarentee that you will be back in time for departure if you go with someone not associated with the ship or Joan's connections.

I just booked our last 2 excursions: On St. Thomas the St. John Island tour though ShoreTrips (Joan's Picks) and the Best of Tortola through Princess shore excursions. Trip is just around the corner!
