I have a lot of options this year there are a lot of exciting genetics out there that are more than capable. I certainly will be planting my seed the 679 Watkinson. It went 30% heavy and was a decent shape with no issues that couldnt be handled with sound pumpkin practices. This upcoming year will be my second year of growing I have my goals that are high as we all do. Someday i want my pumpkin displayed at the Whitehouse. A goal that will be huge.

859 Bhaskaran (1385 Jutras x 1689 Jutras) 1116 Traylor (1130 Jutras x 1385 Jutras) Hopefully I can expand my space and find room for a few more.

For sure:
823 Perry (1306 Jutras X 1450 Wallace)
984.5 Perry (823 Perry X 1306 Jutras)
1385.5 Jutras (1068 Wallace X 998.6 Pukos)

If I get one, another fer sure is:
1725 C. Harp (1385.5 Jutras X Self)

And then I need something Orange, yet to be decided.

Some seeds old, some seeds new, some seed harvested from pumpkin goo.

Plus a couple field pumpkins:
83.5 Leland
88.5 Leland

I am going for world field pumpkin domination next year, whatever it takes. Even if it means trading the two dozen or so 1068 Wallace seeds I have left for Tremor's secret recipe for field pumpkin compost tea.

(Brooks, I was just joking, the closest I've ever come to a 1068 Wallace is the ink on the list of auction lots from a few years ago.)

Thanks to the kind members of this forum and their willingness to share with new growers I've got what I think is a great starting lineup for 2010 :

1164 Finders (1041.5 Mckie x 1255 VanKooten)
851 Fowler (1180.5 Pukos x 998 Warner)
421 Drum (1290 Poirier x 1102 Pukos)
763 Young (1502 Wallace x 1385 Jutros)
270 est Young (1385 Jutros x 1502 Wallace)

Now the hard part of doing them justice and deciding on what crosses to make with them for 2011 !!

At this early juncture, I'm leaning towards the following three:
1348 Hester 07....It's got what I call the "have your cake and eat it too" factor. Meaning it could go big and orange.

492.5 Gerhardt O8.... I think it has the potential to produce super orange.

940 Mombert 00....Has proven it can produce super orange.

1385 Jutras, 901 Hunt, 991 Urena, 960 Barker, 1467 Perham,
(options on 1528 Starr, 1184 Barker,) 1136 Pugh,
1334 Daltas. If I happen to get lucky enough to win a 1161 Rodonis that would work also. Plus the QuiZ promissed me a 898 Knauss clone also.

Haha I love "Neighbor's house..", Traylor.

1199 Werner (998x1161)
1248 Lombardi (1385x985)
1622 Young (1207x1385)

Due to time constraints I may have to cut it back to two. The 1199 Werner has the best shape/color ratio I've ever seen. The 1622 Young, while Don's smallest monster, has outstanding potential with the 1385 pollinator cut at 945lbs/55days.

Plan A

1028 Gienger 2009.

Plan B"ackup"

Is just one of my own.

I'm really hoping I get a good germ and early growth with the 1028. I will not use one of the other 1028 seeds I have for it as a backup however, as if I do that I am going to use up 2 seeds with room for only one plant, and I not wasting any of those seeds.

Boise City, Oklahoma, USA

689.5 Rebel
1288 Wallace

The above is a cross I want to make for the genes in both. I'm expecting a barrellike orange with innie belly button from the 689.5 with nice thick walls.

#3 and #4 are not decided and very well may not be until I hit filing and soaking time.

I also get to pick two for someone else who will be growing at same site. They have yet to decide on pretty, big, orange, or green. They will be training, weeding, staking and worrying about theirs.

I will also be starting the backups for entire local club, but they will pick their own first and second starts out of seed bank... if all else fails they will have something to grow. Going to be a long winter mulling short lists.

901 Hunt - 19% heavy
1677.5 Hunt-15" thick walls around the shoulders-19% heavy
1725 Harp - WR

We hope to cross the 1677.5 & the 1725 both ways & bring the 1725 into the 901 Hunt. Bringing the 1385 genetics into the 901 will prove to be a winner.
