I don't want to use fresh manure in the fall because I did once and had an unbelievable amount of weeds the next year.Is there a way around it ? Thanks

Mix your manure into a compost pile with some other organic matter and get it "cooking" good and hot. That should kill off most of the weed seeds.

I got a couple of yards composting now,but in a post somewhere, someone said they put in fresh manure.I was thinking there was another trick to getting rid of the weeds. My daughters have 2 horses and the only thing I like about having them for is the manure. Thanks for the answers Gene

horse manure from grassy pastures tend to have a lot of weed seeds,I have better luck getting mine from a riding stable tha t gets It's hay from a farmer that keeps his alfalfa field sprayed and void of foreign weed seeds. I just don't get that many weeds.

Is there some type of application you can apply to reduce the weeds? A powder that can be tilled into the soil? Im new to this stuff, therefore if my comments seem off base, let me know.
