I grew my personal best from a 1068 Papez, which was a sibbed 1068 Wallace. And that was with a super cold wet spring and a plant that was only 100 sq. ft. at pollination time. I don't think that seed lost anything with being sibbed. And I know that at least one other grower had one bigger with the 1068 Papez. I would grow another one if I could get one.

Actually the 845 Nesbitt was 846 x 723 then selfed to produce the 603.

I have too many to list and I have planted selfed and sibbed seeds before with good results. I have also duplicated crosses that have been done by others, but not using selfed our sibbed seeds to do it, but it's not out of the question and could certainly be worthwhile. Sometimes you can't get an original, but a selfed or sibbed version of a seed you would like is available. The results are sometimes not what you might expect though. I grew the 1033 Emmons 04 which was a selfed 846 Calai hoping for good color and ended up with a white pumpkin.

I once had a seed which was the 846 Calai selfed twice. The fruit came out white. You simply do not know what will happen, especially with color.

Having said that, I think selfing is a good strategy. I'd rather cross two selfed seeds than simply cross-cross-cross.

I got a bunch of 170.5 Rudolph 2009. :D It would have had more size if I was not half-arseing it with 10x other hobbies. But it made a very healthy plant (it survived me growing it after all), and a nice Jack-O-Lantern.

Its 879 Zoellner 2008 x self.

The 879 was a 1317 Rose 2007 x 1290 Piorier 2007.

Next year I'm planning to self a 1028 Geigner 2009.
